Drummer from Spinal Tap?

This poor guy was determined to tote all of his equipment, including his farmers market purchases, on top of this one little wagon. His load dropped to the pavement over and over again, snare drum and tom-tom rolling in different directions, until he wisely gave up and made a couple of trips instead of doing it all at once. Until then, he had everyone’s attention (and sympathy).

One of his drumsticks, which had rolled all the way to this coffee shop patron, was returned to him, as was the fresh-lit cigarette which dropped out of his mouth during these antics. Bystanders helped gather scattered strawberries several times.

Backyard Monster

Discovered this alligator lizard roaming around our compost pile, probably feeding on the worms:

Must have gotten comfortable; didn’t want to let go:

We’ve also discovered leathery eggs in the warmer parts of our backyard, so this might be the momma lizard.

I put her right back where I found her.

Now we know what lurks in the dark: REPTILE!

Q: Any advice on how to catch one?

A: Can’t grab one by the tail, of course. You’d end up with just a piece of tail.

They’ve got razor sharp teeth, but my skin is tough, so I’m not afraid of its bite. Their jaws at this size are not very powerful, anyway.

I just try to sneak up and gently pick it up from behind the head. They’ve got claws, but nothing to be frightened about.

The main thing is not to hurt them in any way. They’re very beneficial in the garden.

WordPress Meetup – Milpitas

Hanging out afterward (almost 4 PM!) are a few members of a group that meets the third Wednesday of the month at 1:30 PM in the Milpitas Library computer room. (Kenna Mawk, R.I.P., had been scheduled to make the presentation at this meeting.)

Another group, complimentary to Milpitas, is starting in Saratoga. It will meet in the computer training room of the library on first Thursdays of the month, same time of day.

WordPress-Saratoga MeetUp Group <- 1st meeting is September 1st at 1:30 PM!

By the way, this blog, lincolnCt.com, is one of the simplest examples of what wordpress.com offers. (WordPress.org, on the other hand, gives you all the PHP/MySQL code to run on your own server.)
